EDUCATION
Photo Skillz, created by the accomplished photographer Vicki Stanwycks, stands as a testament to her extensive and diverse educational journey. Vicki's path to photographic mastery began in the bustling metropolis of New York City, a place renowned for its artistic vibrancy and creative energy. Here, she immersed herself in the world of photography, gaining hands-on experience that laid a solid foundation for her skills.
She has worked on Cruise ships, Macy's, American Express, Double Day Books, several Photo Labs in NYC and on ships, Advertising Studio's In NYC and in New Orleans.
Early on in her career, she worked for the biggest wedding venue in New York - The Huntington Town House Shooting 5 weddings a weekend. Her smallest wedding was 250 people and her biggest was 1500 people, talk about crowd control. When working on the ships she would photograph up 4000 people in a night, process the film and have their images on the walls by the next morning.
After years of hitting the books, earning degrees, and attending endless classes, nothing beats the wild ride of real-world experience and globetrotting adventures.
The best lessons? They come from rolling up your sleeves, diving in headfirst, making mistakes, and finding your way through the maze of life. Vicki? Oh, she's got this magical knack for photography - it's like second nature to her. I guess it's all because she's head over heels in love with the art of capturing moments and making art...
EXPERIENCE
Vicki up and opened her own studio over 23 years ago. She bought a building on Tchoupitoulas Street and it was life changing... She started her Commercial business shooting everything tht came here way' Corporate, Executives, Industrial, Headshots, Products, Advertising, and did well especially as a woman on her own.
At the onset of Digital imaging won $5000 of Digital software and was the first in New Orleans to post images for sale by way of the little yellow card... You see Mardi Gras lined up every year in front of her studio and she hired a team of shooters and assistants, and off they went. Every Parade that rolled was photographed. The people in the floats went to her site and bought all kinds of pictures and keepsakes.
After Mardi Gras season it was business as usual, it was something! Then Vicki became a life coach and between her knowledge of Photography and life coaching she teaches a pretty mean workshop!
So between shooting and teaching it keeps her pretty bussy. She loves New Orleans and the Missisippi Gulf Coast and now has a studio there teaching and shooting...

Attendees should have a Camera, with lenses, laptop or home computer and software which we can discuss before the workshop/class. We will go shoot photographs. It's recommended to wear something comfortable, weather appropriate and closed toe shoes or sneakers.
